Game Server Administrators

We currently have two levels of server administrator, they are:
Head Admins
Player Admins

If at anytime you are asked to do something by a player who carries any of the above tags on the end of their player name please comply.

Please note that an admin does NOT have to be tagged up whilst undercover. In addition admin's may take action at any time as and when required entirely at their own discretion, this can be with or without a warning.

If you have any question about who is admin in game, ask them and they will prove that they are indeed admin's by posting a message onto the server such as "MESSAGE FROM ADMIN: hello".

Punishments

Minor / First Offence - 1 week ban from customFACTOR
Second Offence - 3 month ban from customFACTOR
Major Offence - Permanent ban from customFACTOR

The Three Strike Rule

If you are caught committing a Minor offence on three occasions you will be considered to have committed a Major Offence and therefore subject to a PERMANENT BAN from the server, we do NOT tolerate the repeated breaking of server rules on the game servers.

Punishments do not specifically have to follow that order should the offence be considered serious enough to warrant a permanent ban.

What are Offences on customFACTOR Gaming Servers ?

Listed below are what we consider offences that can result in a BAN from the servers. These rules are subject to change and you should always do as the ADMIN tells you when in any doubt.

Minor Offences

Boosting with MORE THAN ONE team mate to gain ANY advantage due to map bug and you will be banned.

Advertisements - do not ADVERTISE on our game servers with you own game server/hack website, this is quickest way to get banned. If you would like to promote your clan/website contact customFACTOR and we can work out one of several ways to inform players for you.

Abuse of the server - derogatory remarks about the server means that you do not like it or want to play here, that is construed as disruptive gameplay to the players that enjoy it here. You have two choices stay and play and keep your comments to yourself or post email suggesting what could be improved or be ban/kicked with warning

Map bugs /exploits - Any Player that takes advantage of a map exploit we deem to be an unintended advantage over the other team/players will be banned. The boosting though any floor/roofs/vents/doors/windows or roofs on ANY map is NOT allowed.

Spamming Voice / Text Chat / Console - Repeatedly spamming in game chat / voice comms with adverts/ comments or voice communication with anything intended to distract other players will result in a ban.

Team Wounding - Shooting other players in your team intentionally to remove health points is also an offence and will result in a ban.

Team Killing - Team killing, which is killing members of your own team on purpose, is also an Offence. Anyone spotted team killing at spawn points will be banned.

If you are subject to someone Team Killing you, please do not retaliate, as an Admin may be present .Retaliation is not justified under any circumstances. Please either report the player to Admin team or record a demo / screenshot of status screen

Blocking - Blocking doors/vents/retreats needed by your team to progress with the objective on the map is unsporting and a bannable offence

Half Life Sound Selector - Using HLSS on customFACTOR can become annoying if spammed. It may seem a great source of amusement for yourself on the servers, but for the majority of people on the server it is a severe irritation, if you get caught spamming it on a customFACTOR server you will be warned.

Spawn Killing - Some custom maps are badly designed and allow teams to see each other at spawn, so players can shoot the other team before they have brought a weapon, upgraded or moved at the beginning of the round, we consider that extremely unsporting on the servers.

Spawn Camping - If you are on the attacking team, You are not allowed to camp at spawn with intention of just killing players that have spawned, attack the objective and run off and then come back do not stay in one spot killing players as they spawn for extended periods.

Commonly used offensive language used in a game nickname. Offensive language will be determined by the Server Admin. It contains items such as the serious sexual swear words including racist terms, the rule of thumb is you should try and remain as polite as possible at all times on the servers.

We expect people playing at customFACTOR to be mature in their conduct and will not tolerate any of the above actions with the intent of harassing any other player.

Admin Time Wasting - If you are caught wasting an admins time intentionally, or continually calling an admin to investigate players on a server, which prove to be nothing more than a better skilled player than yourself, the admin team reserve the right to take action against such a person, we admins are volunteers and we do this in our free time and have no wish to have it wasted.

Admin Abuse - We server admins, carry out the work we do in our own free time, and of our own free will, we are human, not machines, therefore we are not infallible. Where mistakes are made, we work hard to rectify them, but we will not tolerate any abuse or harassment aimed at any member of the admin team and we will always take action against any player that abuses any member of the team.

Admin Faking - If you are caught imposinating an admin or member of customFACTOR this will result in an instant kick an ban, pretending to be admin causes issues as admin being accused of the faker’s actions will result in conflicts between players and the community

Major Offences

The offences listed below are what we consider to be major offences on the customFACTOR, they will result usually in an immediate and permanent ban from all servers without any warning, should any player be caught doing any of the following.

Cheating - Using ANY cheats/ plug-ins / hooks /altered graphic card drivers to give you an advantage over any normal game install on is a major offence and will result in a permanent ban from ALL Servers.

Serious Abuse - This includes any Racism/ Homophobic abuse and prolonged use of Sexual Swearwords, customFACTOR operates a ZERO TOLERANCE policy in relation to Racism and Homophobic Abuse and will permanently ban any person caught doing so on the servers. Player harrassment or offensive behavior will not be tollerated. Respect all the other players on the server.

Pornographic / Racist sprays are not allowed on any server, if you are spotted using a Pornographic/ Racist spray you will be banned from ALL servers.

Ban Evasion - If you are banned , you are banned completely from the servers, having another ID to play on the servers, does not entitle you to ignore that ban and carry on playing on the servers. If you are caught evading or ignoring your ban, we will permanently ban any further IDs that you are found playing on.

Any of these Minor or Major offences listed above can result in being banned from customFACTOR.

No specific warning needs to be given by any member of the admin team and they may ban any person entirely at their own discretion, should they feel the offence justifies the punishment.

If you are banned....

If you receive a message on joining the game servers, which informs you, that you have been permanently banned off this server, and you feel that this is unjustified, then you need to make a ban appeal, you can do so by registering on our forums and making an appeal via the ban appeal section of our forums.

If you are banned and receive a "you are banned until [date]" that is an automatic ban by the VAC system, or Valve Anti Cheat , and customFACTOR have no powers to un-ban you. If you receive a VAC ban you will need to contact Valve directly if the ban is unfair. Admin's can and will not enter into a VAC dispute.

If you receive a message after your ban directing you to Steambans, then you need to follow those instructions to appeal your ban on the Steambans Network, which is an Anti-Cheat plugin that all sum of our game servers use where applicable, it only bans people reported for cheating and more information can be found on it here regarding the plugin and the Steambans Network.

Ban on Sight - Explanation of what it means for the Player

Well known cheat clans and any other majorly disruptive clans are always marked as "Ban on Sight" by the customFACTOR Admin team and will be removed without any question from the servers and community. We want a happy community where people are free to enjoy their games, the admin does not even need to join the server to ban a "Ban on Sight" tag user.

The list of tags is not published publicly , so players are here warned that if they feel any tag they might wear, would possibly carry this association with them being a member of any well known CHEAT/ DISRUPTIVE clan, do NOT use it under any circumstance, it will only invite trouble upon yourself. (Our monitoring system picks up on any of these names instantaneously off the servers and alerts the admin team to respond).

The "Ban on Sight" ruling of the admin team can also be applied to any teams, groups or "clans" whose players are reported by the public more than once for main or serious offences (it is the strongest collective punishment that we possess), if there is proof that one or more of their players behaves in a manner that is disruptive to play or cheats, then the whole clan can be removed. We do not tolerate any groups of players creating a nuisance on the gaming servers, especially when that detracts from the enjoyment of other players.

In these instances anyone caught using that "ban on sight" tag will be removed from the gaming servers and community.

We believe at customFACTOR that it is then a reasonable action for the Clan Leader to ensure that all associated team players behave in a way on the public servers that reflects the clan and only a Clan Leader will be able to liase with the admin team in the event of any ban being placed on the clan in order to work with the admin team to try and resolve that situation..

These rules are subject to change. This comprehensive listing may not cover every single offence possible. If an offence that is committed does not fall into the remit of these server rules directly or indirectly, the Head Admin team reserve the right to punish the offender accordingly or rule on any case where the offence is not clearly set out within the rules. The ruling of any member of the Head Admin team in any case is deemed final unless otherwise stated.
